I can't always make a long trip but I'm trying to making short trips as many as I can, over the weekend or even just a couple of hours. Everytime I make those small trips, it makes me feel like I'm on a vacation.
Last week Seb and I went to a new place we have not been to before. It was in the black forest, a place called Baumwipfelpfad Schwarzwald. It is such a friendly area to visit if you wish to have a relaxing walk or go cycling in the nature. Around the area, there are many fine restaurants with delicious cakes and coffee for a reasonable price.
We bought our ticket at the entry and started walking on the very nicely built bridge between the treetops. Along the way we saw lots of trees, birds and squirrels. The bridge is about 20 meters above the ground and 1,25km long.
From the start to the end, there were a few little obstacles one can overcome or just use the normal way. I overcame all of them, and it was fun, I loved it.
There were also many signs with cartoon images and text which will teach you about the trees and animal in the forest.
At the end of the bridge, there is a big tower with about 9 or 10 levels. Walking up I felt completely safe and I didn't feel like I used much energy because it was so flat.
Reaching the top of the platform I felt so rewarded, the view was amazing, the thick woodlands of the Black Forest, the little valley in between and the air was so fresh. If there was a hammock and I'm allowed to sleep on it, I can sleep there the whole day.
From the top of the platform you can also slide down to the ground if you don't want to walk down but you have to pay 2€ and you have to be at least 6 years old.
For anyone who is afraid of heights, the place is very safe, both sides have a strong fence. It's built so well that you don't feel that you are going to fall.
View their website for the entry fee and other information.
Next, to the same area, there is a hanging bridge but you have to buy a separate ticket. It was an amazing experience and view. But this could be a bit hard if you are scared of heights ;)
I would recommend this place to anyone who is visiting the area. It is for all ages, young to old and for children with little bikes, it is totally fine.
